1. Who we are

Driving Instructor Logbook UK (the "App") is provided by Driving Better AI Limited ("Driving Better AI", "we", "us", or "our"), a company based in Hong Kong. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App and when you contact us about the App.

2. Key points (plain English)

• Offline-first by design: the App does not require accounts and we do not run our own servers for syncing your instructor data.
• Your instructor data stays on your device: students, session notes, mock test results, calendar items, and finance records are stored locally.
• Optional backups: you can export/import backups; on iOS, an optional Premium feature can store backups in your iCloud Drive.
• Stores handle payments: subscriptions are processed by Apple/Google. We do not receive your full payment card details.
• Support messages: if you email us, we process the information in your message to respond.

3. Scope

This Privacy Policy covers information related to the App and App support. App store providers (Apple App Store / Google Play) and cloud storage providers (for example, iCloud Drive) have their own privacy practices, which are governed by their own policies and settings.

4. Information you can store in the App (stored locally)

The App lets you record and manage information you enter, which may include:

• student names and notes
• training session details (goals, manoeuvres, progress, next steps)
• mock test results and summaries
• calendar/scheduling details
• finance tracking (paid/unpaid status, amounts, history)

This information is stored on your device. We do not receive it on our own servers.

5. Backups, export/import, and iCloud (iOS)

The App may allow you to export and import backup bundles (for example, when changing devices). Backups can contain the information you entered (including student names and notes). You are responsible for storing and sharing any exported backups securely.

On iOS, an optional Premium feature can store backups in your iCloud Drive. When enabled, Apple processes and stores those backups in your iCloud account. We do not operate the iCloud service and do not have access to your iCloud account. You can disable iCloud backups in the App and manage iCloud files via your device settings/iCloud Drive.

6. Subscriptions and payments

If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store your full payment card details. The App may receive subscription status information from the store (for example, to unlock Premium features), and we may receive limited purchase-related information (such as confirmation that a subscription is active) depending on platform capabilities.

7. Support communications

If you contact us (for example, by email), we will process the information you provide (such as your email address and the contents of your message) to respond, provide support, and improve our documentation and support processes.

8. Analytics and tracking

The App is designed without first-party analytics SDKs and without creating user accounts. We do not use the App to track you across apps or websites. App store providers and your device operating system may collect diagnostic or usage information as part of their own services and settings.

9. Sharing and disclosures

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information in limited situations, such as:

• App stores and payment processing: Apple/Google process purchases and may provide us limited subscription status information.
• Cloud storage (optional): if you enable iCloud backups on iOS, Apple processes and stores backup files in your iCloud Drive.
• Service providers: we may use email and tooling providers to receive and respond to support messages.
• Legal: if required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights/safety.

10. International transfers

If you contact us, your message may be processed in jurisdictions where we and our service providers operate. If you are located in a jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, we will take appropriate steps where required.

11. Data retention

• Instructor data in the App: remains on your device until you delete it, uninstall the App, or replace it via import/restore.
• Exported backups: retained wherever you store them until you delete them.
• iCloud backups (if enabled): retained in your iCloud Drive until you delete them or disable the feature and remove the files.
• Support messages: retained as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping.

12. Security

We design the App to keep instructor data local. You should protect your device (for example, with a passcode/biometric lock) and handle exported backups carefully. Cloud services (such as iCloud Drive) use their own security measures under their terms and settings.

13. Your choices and rights

You can delete instructor data by deleting entries within the App or uninstalling the App. You can delete exported backups wherever you stored them. If you enabled iCloud backups, you can disable the feature and delete backup files from iCloud Drive.

Depending on your location, you may have additional privacy rights (for example, under GDPR/UK GDPR or state privacy laws). If you contact us, you can request access, correction, or deletion of support communications we hold, subject to applicable law.

14. Children's privacy

The App is intended for driving instructors and administrative use. It is not designed for children under 13.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
